I cannot say enough good things about my experience with Carnitas Don Alfredo, specifically the ownership/team associated with the Northlake and Melrose Park-West locations, and especially Hector Quintero Jr., who was my point of contact from the beginning of planning through the day of our event. Hector was responsive, professional, accommodating, and incredibly easy to work with. When you’re coordinating multiple vendors and countless moving pieces for a private event, having a vendor you simply don’t have to worry about is invaluable. Carnitas Don Alfredo was exactly that. They arrived EARLY, were prepared, completely set up, started ON TIME. No scrambling, no confusion, no unnecessary stress—just professional execution. The live taco/taquiza setup was BEAUTIFUL. Hector brought a great staff and created a presentation that elevated the entire event. Even the decorative bowls used for the sauces and accompaniments were an amazing touch. It didn’t feel like someone simply showed up with catered food; they created a genuine live taquiza experience. His staff were the consummate professionals—courteous, organized, efficient, friendly, and attentive to our guests. And the FOOD? EVERY. SINGLE. PERSON. Our guests could not stop talking about how good everything was. I repeatedly heard compliments about the tacos and people asking about Carnitas Don Alfredo. When you have a large group of people with different tastes and the response is overwhelmingly positive, that speaks volumes about the quality and consistency of the food. I’ve been a customer and supporter well before this event. I routinely recommend them and consider myself one of their biggest fans. For clarity, there are two Carnitas Don Alfredo locations essentially next door to each other in Melrose Park. I’m specifically referring to the larger location inside the strip mall with the larger interior/seating area, along with the ownership associated with the Northlake location. This isn’t intended to take anything away from the other family-owned locations. There’s simply SOMETHING about these 2 particular Northlake & Melrose Park-West locations. IT HITS. EVERY. SINGLE. TIME. Carnitas? Absolutely. Steak/asada tacos? Absolutely. If someone asks me where to go for Mexican food in Chicagoland—especially carnitas or asada—Carnitas Don Alfredo is one of my first recommendations. What impressed me most was seeing the same quality I’ve experienced as a regular customer translate perfectly into a private catering environment. Taking a restaurant operation on the road requires transportation, setup, timing, staffing, presentation, live cooking and service. Not every restaurant can execute that successfully. Carnitas Don Alfredo DELIVERED. Excellent food. Beautiful presentation. Professional staff. Early arrival. On-time service. Smooth execution. And, most importantly, our guests LOVED the food. I would not hesitate for a SECOND to bring Hector and his team back again, and again, and again. I look forward to continuing the relationship for future private, organizational, community and corporate events. If you’re planning a backyard party, birthday, graduation, family gathering, fraternity/sorority event, corporate function, community event or another celebration: BOOK THE TAQUIZA.
